Vino Rosso Toscana Macchie Passito

Macchie Passito

Be guided by nature, understand the signs, pay tribute: When the consequences of extreme conditions give life to an idea and this idea turns into an opportunity that then becomes reality, it is certain that we are dealing with something special.

In 2011, low rainfall, but above all high temperatures at the end of August beginning of September, caused the early loss of the basal leaves with consequent "cooking" of a part of the bunch, specifically the one exposed to the west hit by a warmer sun. The decision was to collect only the bunches exposed to the east to produce the best wine, leaving everything else in the plant. Aware that, that grapes remained in the plant, would never have passed the month of October, normally rainy and humid.

Well, incredibly, the weather remained dry, even at night, until November, with the result that the grapes already cooked by the sun were completely dehydrated, while the rest of the bunch has acquired a sweetness and extraordinary aromas. That forgotten grape on the plant wanted to leave the trace of a year that had already been announced special at the beginning of spring ..., the message became clear: "you have to make a special wine", so the decision to make a Sangiovese Passito. ...

No added sugar, only sweetness dried in the sun and aged in French barriques

The wine has a dark red color, intense and brilliant, and immediately presents with aromas of a mix of dark berries, such as blueberries, blackberries and blackcurrants. The aromas are strengthened on the palate with the addition of cranberry, raspberry and an acid touch of red currant and black cherry. Compact in flavors and soft on the palate, it is the refined expression of a multitude of berries of different nature.
